I am marking March 17th on the calendar as the day that Collin officially began walking. He has been taking 5-8 steps at a time for 2-3 weeks but now he only crawls for maybe two crawls, stands up and then walks. He pivots to turn to go the other direction and everything! It is soooo adorable. As soon as I get it on video I will post for everyone to enjoy. But for now I have to bundle him up and run him to a medical clinic in Ogden. He has a cough and wheeze that sound dangerously close to bronchitis...
This picture makes me smile. Emily loves to tell us "secrets." She leans in and tells us that she loves us.
Check out two of the other pictures my sister in law took on the side.
I know that Collin doesn't turn one until Thursday but we leave Friday afternoon for Idaho/Utah so I decided to move up his party until tonight. It was such a success! It was the first time that I was 95% happy with the cake that I made and decorated. :) Collin loved having so many people around that he loves. Thank you to the my parents, Matt & Ashley (and family), Coe Family (minus Jordan again but we love you still), Norris Family, and Corbetts in thoughts (we understood and we don't want you to get sick either!). Collin was spoiled with clothes and a book that he can take into the bath. He really got into the cake too! Emily had nothing to do with hers at her first birthday. She loved "helping" Collin blow out his candle and open his presents. He didn't get the whole opening presents things but he loved looking at the gifts afterwards. It was a nice time to visit with everyone. Earlier, while Collin was taking a nap, Emily was quite concerned about Collin and his cake. She kept telling me that Collin needed to blow out the fire so we could have cake but that Collin was sleeping. She became quite distraught over the whole thing. I promised her that we would wake Collin up and everyone would get cake. Serena was a good sport and allowed Emily to go "horseback" riding on her back. It was hilarious. Enjoy the pictures and short videos.
Here are some of my favourite pictures taken over the last little while. Some of the pictures are blurry but they just show my kids personalities PERFECTLY. :) Emily loves my new hat. She is such a little actress.
Collin loves playing with his sister's Wonder Pets cage. (Ming Ming) He is such a ham!
Last week we decided to go for a walk because the sun was shining and it was BEAUTIFUL! But true to our style we ended up putting it off until 4:30pm when there was only an hour left of daylight and the wind had picked up... :) The kids loved it. I had forgotten how much I love our stroller. I also love Collin's teddy bear warm jumper. (Thanks Rita) Emily decided that if Collin was a bear he needed to wear a Winnie the Pooh touque as well. I love my daughter! (FYI the first pictures are taken in our house but our stroller is kept at my parents house so that is where the outside pictures are taken. I wish we had more storage space!)
This past year has just flown by! My little baby is turning one on March 4th! Since we leave for Utah/Idaho the next day we are having his birthday party a few days early. We love you Collin!
Last week a coworker and his wife lost their little girl. Her heart gave out as the mother was finishing the final pushes during labour. All medical attempts to restart the heart failed. It has made me contemplate many things over the last week. I hold my kids a little tighter and for a little longer. I treasure every moment, even the ones that make me want to pull my hair out. I am so lucky to have my children in my life. I am so grateful for the knowledge I have of the Plan of Salvation. I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father who knows and loves each of us and that we will all be able to see our loved ones again someday. Take a few moments to hug your children, spouse, or parent. Tell them you love them. Life is so precious.

Last night Collin slept through the night. Yes, he is 11 months and 3 weeks old and yes, this is the first time he slept through the night. I woke up this morning to the alarm clock and realized that I had not seen or heard my son all night. After being up 5-7 times a night with him for 3 out of the last 4 weeks (3 new teeth) it felt so liberating to wake up in a bed with no baby curled up next to me. But only for a moment, then I realized I hadn't fed him all night and I feeling slightly uncomfortable.... But not to worry he woke up half and hour later as I was finishing up my exercises.
