Landon took these video clips while I was at work. Emily and Collin love to screech at each other and then they giggle. It gets old fast to us adults but not to them. He tried to catch it on video. They stopped but you get the idea. Enjoy!

Important Announcement
A few weeks ago I told Emily that bottles were for babies and she was a big girl. For the next few days she would ask for "Emmy's bottle baby". Then suddenly she said, "Where's Emmy's sippy?" Now the only time she mentions a bottle is if Collin is crying she will ask him if he would like a baby bottle. YEAH! I'm hoping Collin goes straight to a sippy. He won't take a bottle at all but he loves drinking from a cup. And she is going to bed with nothing. :) Toilet training is our next hurdle. The bottle stopped once I stopped stressing about it. Maybe that is what I need to do with the toilet training...
My silly kids
I don't think I could actually express how much I love my kids! Work/absence has increased my love for being with them. Emily makes me laugh and brings such happiness. And if I am stressed or feeling down all I need is Collin's smile and his crazy kiss on my cheek to turn the world right again.
Emily has become addicted to our Nintendo DS. I know all you good parents out there limit the time your child plays video games and watches tv. You can put me in the bad parent category. Its okay. I figure its just one more thing Emily can go to her therapist with... :) Anyways she has it with her always. Collin loves watching her play and she is very tolerant of her brother. They were sitting on the futon the other day but Collin was almost falling off the couch trying to see what she was doing so I put him on the floor. Within a few minutes this is how I found them....

She is the sweetest big sister! She got down on the floor so that he could watch!
Enjoy some fun, silly pictures of my kids doing just a few things that make me smile.

30th Birthday
I love birthdays.... always have but mostly I love giving birthday parties. I am not someone who is afraid of giving my age, I love that I am getting older. I don't enjoy giving myself birthday parties. So for the last six years I haven't celebrated my birthday. I usually invite my parents, Matt and his family over and we have cake. Every year I wish I had done something a little more. I wanted to make my 30th birthday special but work made that impossible. I have been so busy at work that I just didn't have time to plan anything. And so stepped in my mom. She called and invited people to go out for dinner with us on my birthday. I was looking forward to my birthday!
I woke up to a phone call from Rita and her kids singing me happy birthday. I was able to have a really nice conversation with Rita. Then Naomi called and sang me happy birthday. I called Ashley and sang her happy birthday. By this time Emily was sitting up in her bed. I told her that it was my birthday. To which she said, "Happy Day to you Mommy." Yeah the perfect morning. Landon and Collin got up before I headed out the door. Emily brought me my gift from the three of them. It was a movie I had been wanting to see! Then I was off to work.
I had the perfect day at work on my birthday. I can't remember the last time that actually happened. My behaviour kids had no outbursts and were on time for class. (A first) I was happy and laughing all day. No one knew it was my birthday and it was just a relaxing day. I told two of my coworkers (Alan and Monty) during our after school meeting/tea and cookies time. I was home by 4:30 (which also doesn't happen often). Just as I came home my sister in law Janie called to wish me a happy birthday. It was nice to sit and chat with her.
We had dinner at Sky Dragon Restaurant (Chinese food, mmm). Lots of people came which was so nice. I received some very nice balloons, Kindor chocolate, a beautiful necklace (thanks Mom!), religious bookmark and beautiful cards. It was such a nice evening. My friend Roberta and her family were still in town so they came for the dinner. It was nice to sit and chat with her since I don't see her very often. Thanks mom for the fantastic day.
I had planned to get together with some friends from work, etc to celebrate but the first night was cancelled because I had to work at the last minute and then when I moved it only Jody and Ashley could make it. Ashley gave me a fantastic cookbook and a craft to help me start journalling.
It was a fantastic day. Thank-you to everyone who helped with the gift Rita made for me. It means a great deal to me. I will treasure it always!

Family Photos
I was sad this summer because we ran out of time to get my sister in law Janie to take family photos for my little family. Our family friend, Joanne, volunteered to come over and take photos for us so that I would have some updated ones of us and the kids. (For Christmas cards) At the last minute we did them yesterday afternoon. The weather was nice and the kids were in a good mood. Those two things don't come around often once the fall hits around here. :) Enjoy!

Lunch Time Visits
Bringing the kids to the school at lunch is not an easy job for Landon and my mom to do. But I am so grateful for the effort they make to do it. When I have had a rough morning it never fails to cheer me up to see the smiling faces of my children.
This morning has been filled with disappointments (cancelling my birthday party, getting in trouble for stuff at work...) and I find myself looking out the window, up the hallway waiting for the first glimpse of my sweetheart and my adorable children.
I love being a mom!

Missionary surprises
Two weeks ago the Elders, Elder Seebeck and Elder LeBaron, asked if they could stop by and give us a spiritual message. They mentioned that the zone leaders would be visiting Powell River and that one of them would be coming with Elder Seebeck while the other went with Elder LeBaron for an appointment. Elder Jardine was the elder who came to our house. As he sat in the chair opposite us, Landon asked him where he was from. He said, "Brigham City, UT." Landon couldn't believe it. He actually has a girlfriend who lives in Mantua and goes to Landon's parents ward. He even knows our sister in law Janie's brother. How small this world can become! Emily had fun showing off to the Elders while Collin only had eyes for Elder Jardine and smiled and giggled for him. Here is the beautiful picture Emily took of them. Elder Seebeck is holding the cookies.
Why do you attend General Conference?
I love General Conference. I always leave energized and with a plan to make my life that much better. So far I've even kept up with my action plan (two days is a big accomplishment for me). :) Now my son goes for a whole other reason...
He went to find a girl friend! He kept a close eye on Serena all day! (Blue Shirt) He would give Amy smiles but as soon as he saw Serena he only had eyes for her. He even whined until I passed him over to her!
Hike up Valentine Mountain
A week or so ago we went on my favourite hike with my brother Matt and his family, my friend Theresa and her kids and her dad, and Roselyn Fleury and her dog. We hiked up Valentine Mountain. It was so much fun. Landon was a bit worried due to Emily running around on the rocks near the edge. The kids had fun and the view is still as beautiful as I remembered. Enjoy the pictures!

Two Memories of Emily
I go back to work and the blogs pretty much stop. :) Work has kept me so busy and when I am home I just want to be with the kids. Facebook has become something that I do maybe once a week. Going back to work has put all my other priorities in place. My kids and family time has become so precious. Here are the memories that stand out from the last few weeks.
1. Last week Emily asked me to skip with her. In the mall. Down the hall to the next store. She has become quite an accomplished skipper. I on the other hand have become very awkward. At first I was hesitant but then I grinned and joined in. By the time we got to the store we were both giggling so hard that we were barely staying on our feet. I love my little girl for keeping me young at heart.
2. When Emily was first learning to talk Landon rolled his eyes when I kept reminding Emily to say Pleases, Thank-you, Sorry and Your Welcome. Now she is more polite than I am. For example: We got home from town and were all coming into the house. Landon turned to catch the door and practically stepped on Emily. She looks up at him and says, "Sorry daddy." And then merrily goes on her way. She always says please and "Thank-you mommy". She will even walk up and ask for a hug and kiss. Her language is growing in leaps and bounds. (When she chooses) she has the most sweet little voice. She loves to sing to Collin. She will sing "her" bedtime song to him and then give him a kiss. Collin thinks the sun rises and sets around Emily (as does her mother.)
