Bath Time

Here are pictures of Collin and Emily when they were both two weeks old. They both like bath time when they are on their tummies!

Emily

Collin

A few thoughts

If anyone had told me three years ago that I would be grateful for the inventions of the front carrier and the baby sling, I would have thought they were nuts. Collin has decided that the only place to be is in one of his parent's arms. The carrier has become my favourite accessory. Collin comes with me when I cook, clean, or play with Emily. He is content to look around or just sleep. Ahhh the peace and quiet it brings......
Emily has attached herself to Collin. She calls him either "C" or "Coyin". She wants to play with him and hold him. Today she fed him imaginary food off her spoon during our morning "tea party". But since her mom is mean and won't let her carry Collin around or leave her alone with him (wonder why?), she has taken to carrying her baby around.
This is how Landon found her last night......

As demanding of my attention as she has gotten, I really love my little girl. When I'm having a bad day she is quick to give me a hug and a kiss. I don't know if I deserve the love she gives me but I am grateful for it. Collin is becoming more attentive every day. I enjoy the time we have together at night when he is awake and everyone in the house is asleep. I can tell he and Emily are going to be great friends. Their personalities compliment each other. The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful little family!

A Child's Perspective

I find that when I stop to listen to what Emily has to say, it usually brings a smile to my face. Like today, she kept pointing to the shelf above the computer and saying Barbie. I asked if she wanted to watch Barbie on the computer. Then I realized that she was pointing to the statue I have of Christ on the shelf. It depicts Christ holding a baby and a woman kneeling beside him. I'd forgotten that Emily thinks the woman is Barbie. Only a little child would assume that. :) She loves for me to bring it down and she talks to all the three figures. She calls them Jesus, Barbie and baby. She would play with them for most of the day if I would let her. I love listening to my daughter; her perspective on life is so simple and uncomplicated. I want to change my perspective so that I can see the world more like a little child. I think that life would be a lot less stressful if I did.

I love my Husband!

I just wanted to publicly say that..... he teases me that I don't say that a lot. :) Today he was able to sit with us in church because the young women did a presentation and he could come down off the stand. It was fantastic! It is a lot easier to look after two kids with two adults during sacrament meeting. :) He is so good with our children.

What I love most about him is his confidence in himself. He doesn't feel the need to be someone he is not and he doesn't worry about whether people like him. I am working on it..... Anyways this comes to mind over the Twilight series. He went to the movie with me, liked it, and decided to read the series. He had read the first couple of chapters in the Philippines but thought it wasn't for him. He usually reads non fiction, if he reads. He loved it! He read all four books in like three weeks. I would find him curled up reading any time I came home from work. I think his 360 missed him..... :) He bought the movie yesterday and was so excited to watch it. And even tonight he was like, "So do you want to watch Twilight again?" He is so cute. I love him so much! Just wanted to share that!

Prayers Please

Please keep my sister Rita and her daughter Madeline in your prayers. Maggie is in the hospital on oxygen and no news on when she is going home yet. Thanks!

Emily's New Best Friend

Emily has definately decided that Collin is wonderful. She is always asking to hold him or volunteer to carry him somewhere. As cute as it is, we do keep a watchful eye on her. She loves him a little too much at times. She loves to "squeeeeeze" him as she puts it. She hold his hand or puts her hands on his cheeks and says, "Squeeeeeze." Way cute but a little painful for Collin. I have almost convinced her to only do it to her mom or dad. (The game started with her dad.) The other day he was crying and she wanted to make him stop. Next thing I knew she had laid blankets on the ground for him and asked to carry him to them. I helped her lay him down on the blankets (in other words I laid him down...) She promptly started to dance for him to try and get him to stop. Here is a picture and video. Enjoy!

Basketball Baby

My friend Becki gave Collin the cutest little Elmo/basketball pjs. I will brainwash my child from a very young age that basketball is his favourite sport!

Another 4 AM morning

What do you do when your baby nurses for four hours straight and is now wide awake? Oh the days of actually getting to sleep at night? Where have they gone? Such a content baby during the day and being so cute right now. If only his sister would let me sleep during the day....... Thank goodness for the internet. I can at least catch up with family and friends on their blogs. :)

What do you do with a two year old?

Emily had an adventure this afternoon that has left me wondering, what do you do with a two year old? I was at my mom's house doing laundry and of course Collin wanted to be fed. I was sitting in the tv room watching tv with Emily. She kept leaving the room but would come back watch more and leave again. She was carrying a shovel from my parent's sandbox. I didn't think much of it and I wasn't really in a position to get up and follow her. When I was done feeding Collin, Emily asked me to come with her and see the sand. I was a bit puzzled as there is no sand in my parents house. (Emily loves the sand table at strongstart.) So off to the kitchen we go where I discovered that Emily had made her own sand play area. She had dumped out about 9 cups of my mom's white sugar onto the floor. She had made roads and piles all over the place. I just stood there. She was so proud of it and then she looked at my face and her little face dropped. I felt horrible for ruining her surprise but all I could see was the mess. She told me, "Uh oh". I had to take some pictures. It is funny now but still....... I don't want to stunt her creativity but it was 9 cups of sugar. Lucky for Emily, she has a grandma with a strange sense of humour who found the whole thing rather entertaining.
